Whether it’s your first newborn or your 5th documenting this special time is so important. It is also important to know what to expect. A lot of times the first few weeks (or really forever) can feel so overwhelming so to add a photo session in…forget about it! That sounds insane, right? Well , I am here to tell you it does not have to be insane.
First you need to choose what style best suits your family. If it’s an in-home/Lifestyle Session then I am your gal. But, what does this mean? This means I will come to your home to photograph you all interacting together. I always ask you when baby seems to be the most calm/happy (and you too). These usually happen during the first two weeks of your newborn being Earth-side, but it is truly up to you all and when you are ready. I will ask you what rooms you’d like to be photographed in. Some people choose their bedroom and nursery, some choose the living room only, it’s really up to you all completely. I encourage you to not clean the rest of your house. If the dirty dishes are not going to be in the shot then please leave them. I do not care and totally understand newborn life!
These sessions take about an hour give or take. Sometimes they take longer because your sweet newborn is upset, or spit up all over you, or wants more milk, or the dreaded poop explosion happened. I try and make these sessions as quick and painless as possible but I also don’t want you to feel like we are on a time crunch and if life happens the entire session is a bust. I will guide you into positions but then you all do the rest. I allow time for you to talk to your baby, snuggle, get sentimental posed shots but also sentimental moments of you all just being you.
They lose the newborn look really fast. Those tiny furry ears, the way they curl up their legs when they stretch, all of it. You won’t regret taking the time to get these photos done. After your session I will help guide you in print options/memory books, if that is what you are looking for. I can’t wait to book with you and meet your new addition! Oh and yes…let the animals join in a few!
